Monster Cookie Recipe

We've loved monster cookies since we were kids, and it's easy to see why when there's so much goodness packed into each bite.

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup butter, softened
  • ¾ cup peanut butter (smooth or chunky)
  • ¾ cup packed brown sugar
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups flour
  • 1¾ cups old-fashioned oats
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup M&Ms
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, peanut butter, brown sugar, and sugar.
  3. Add the vanilla and eggs and mix well.
  4. Add the flour, oats, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Mix well.
  5. Stir in the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
  6. Scoop into 1-inch balls and put them on the cookie sheet, giving them plenty of room to spread. You'll need to bake in batches.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until the cookies are just set and slightly browned at the edges, 10-12 minutes.

With the base of these cookies, you can add all sorts of goodies. Some of our favorite variations:

  • Replace peanut butter with cashew butter or, if you have a nut allergy, any seed butter.
  • Replace the M&Ms with Reese's Pieces.
  • Replace the chocolate chips with white chocolate chips or butterscotch chips.
  • Use peanut butter chips in place of the chocolate chips.
  • Add ½ cup of toffee bits when you stir in the M&Ms and chocolate chips.
